Eric Perkins Biography
Eric Perkins is an American journalist who is the sports director for KARE11 News. He is however leaving the station after working for 25 years. Perkins was born on October 14, 1966, in Hong Kong. He is married to Shelley.

Perkins joined KARE 11 in November of 1996 as a sports reporter and in 2012 was named weeknight sports anchor and sports director at KARE. As a sports reporter, Perkins gained much attention with “Perk at Play.”
Created in the winter of 1997, the hands-on segment gave Perk a chance to try everything from ski-jumping to bullfighting, from driving a car in a demolition derby to playing baseball for the St. Paul Saints, just to name a few. The series won several awards, including an Emmy.
Eric was honored by Tegna Corporation as the recipient of the “National Community Empowerment Award.” He is also the creator of Perk’s Pinky Swear MessFest – an obstacle course for families that benefits the Pinky Swear Foundation, a not-for-profit organization helping children with cancer.

“Perk,” as he’s known to colleagues and viewers, started at KARE 11 in November of 1996. He quickly won over viewers with his Emmy-winning “Perk at Play” segments. The series gave Perk a chance to try his hand at all kinds of fun (and sometimes unusual) activities, including ski jumping, a demolition derby, and even bullfighting.
